ShiverTitle: Shiver

Author: Maggie StiefvaterGenre: Young Adult, Paranormal, Romance, FantasyPages: 400 (hardcover)Stand alone or series book: It's the first of a series

Summary:  When Grace was a young girl, she was the victim of a freak wolf attack in the woods surrounding her home. She thought she was going to die when one of the wolves with brilliant yellow eyes fended the others off to protected her. Luckily Grace survived  and since then she always searched woods, catching a glimpse of those same intense yellow eyes looking back at her. Grace has always been drawn to wolves especially after the attack. When another attack occurs in town and the wolves kill a teenage boy a hunting party is assembled to put an end to the pack, Grace is terrified for her wolf. She tries to stop the hunting party but when she reaches her house she finds a shivering teenage boy on her porch who was been shot in the shoulder. Grace learns that the boy is Sam; her wolf that has been watching her from afar for all these years. Every year during the warm summer Sam turns back to his human self but once the temperature drops Sam turns back into a wolf. And each year Sam's summers become shorter and shorter, Sam fears he will turn into a true wolf and will never be able to become human again. Together Grace and Sam fight to keep him human no matter the cost.

My Review:  Grace is very confident young girl that has had some life changing experiences. For most people a wolf attack would make you more on guard about everything. Not for Grace, Grace is even more drawn to the wolves after the attack then she was before. You'll find that you'll really grow to love Grace and her personality.

Sam has some problems of his own, he was bitten when he was a child and once his parents found out they tried to destroy him. Sam barely survived, but he knew that he couldn't live any longer with his biological parents. Beth the man responsible for Sam becoming a werewolf adopted Sam happily. Sam treated Beth as a father, although he did miss his parents occasionally but even the thought of them brings back the memories of him being pinned down in the bathtub and made the scars on his arms tingle. Grace helps Sam find his true self again, and they're there for each other for the ups and downs.

This book is a really good read, Stiefvater really showcased two young lovers experiencing true love. I really enjoyed this book I actually stayed up all night so I could finish it. I would strongly recommend this book to any paranormal romance lovers. This book is both well written and action packed.

Amanda Marrone

Books Written:

stand alone books for teens: uninvited, Revealers, Devoured and Slayed

middle aged series:
The Magic Repair Shop books: The Multiplying Menace, The shape- Shifters Curse, Master of Mirrors

About the author: Amanda Marrone grew up on Long Island where she spent her time reading, drawing, watching insects, and suffering from an over-active imagination. It didn’t help that her father told bloodcurdling stories, and would take Amanda and her siblings for moon lit walks in the graveyard—the highlight of which involved having them march up to mausoleums and knock on the doors—alone.

Not surprisingly, she was extremely scared of the dark—living in fear of cats meowing at the door at night (she was sure they were really monsters pretending to be her cats), and things lurking in basements, attics, dark rooms, and closets.

Amanda successfully avoided monster attacks by leaving all the lights on in her house, and convincing other family members to let the cats in—eventually earning a B.A. in Education at SUNY Cortland. She taught fifth and sixth grade in New Hampshire, where she was known for putting on mini-musicals, and dissecting eyeballs and owl pellets with her students.

After taking a very early retirement to raise a family and write novels—some of which have vampires and other creepy creatures, Amanda now lives in Connecticut with her husband, Joe, two kids, two cats, a crayfish, hissing cockroaches, Griffin, a havanese dog who can say "Hello" and "I love you."

Title: Hush Hush

Author: Becca Fitzpatrick

Genre: Paranormal, Young Adult, Fantasy, Romance

Pages: 400

Stand alone or series book: this is the first of an amazing series

Summary: For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She’s never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment. But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora’s not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can’t decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel. For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen – and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

My Review:  Norah Grey from Hush Hush is a very strong independent character who isn't afraid of anything and yet she's desperately looking for someone to face the world with. However, none of the guys at her school appeal to her, that is until she mets Patch. Not wanting to admit that she is attracted to this mysterious new kid, it takes some warming up to for her to admit it.

Patch the dark, mysterious, dangerous, sexy new guy. Knows more about Norah than she does about herself and some how he instantly finds himself on her bad side. Noah just can't find it in her to trust Patch, he's different from all the other guys that she knows. However for whatever reason Noah finds herself drawn to Patch, which is nothing like her. Somehow she knows that Patch is bad news and soon does she learn he holds the greatest secret that could cost her life.

I absolutely loved the story Fitzpatrick created, I have to say I was hesitant to start this book because I was expecting more of the sappy love story. However I ended completely regretting putting it off for so long. Again, I found myself not able to put down this amazing read. This story was a great dark story that wasn't too overpowering. I do want to say that there is no point of even attempting to predict what will happen a chapter or more ahead, this book has a lot of un-inspecting twist to it. This is a very good read that I strongly recommend to any paranormal novel lovers.

My Review: This book was different from other books I've read, I instantly fell in love with the world Noel created for Ever and Damen. There is so much action in this book, but there is a little bit of mystery there too.  I found that I couldn't put the book down, I recommend this book to those who need a good read.
